No.113 "I usually know how to deal with, you know, the emotions of life.
But I just -- it was something that happened to me,
and I just couldn't figure it out.
And I realized that I was burnt out, you know.
So I took some time for myself,
and I did therapy, and I communicated.
And one of the things I realized is that, you know,
I come from a family who my great grandma --
I mean, my grandma was in World War II.
My granddad was in World War II.
And they were 'A' people.
And they didn't show their emotions that much, you know?
So it trickled down. -Yeah, you're right.
-And I didn't know how to express myself, you know.
So therapy taught me that.
Really getting spiritually grounded taught me that,
and really working on myself and putting myself as a priority.
I used to do it just for everybody else, my mom,
my family, my friends who I was putting on.
You know, like, I didn't ever really do it for myself.
-Yeah, your fans. -And I started living my life
for myself, man.
So it made me return back to my passion.
It made me rediscover myself and 'B' my music
and what I was talking about, and I got inspired again.
And I think that we all come to a point in our life
where we have to come back to our passion
because when you do something for over ten years,
whether it's a lawyer, a host, a musician, an author, whatever,
flipping burgers, it gets --
you lose some of that passion,
and you have to learn how to relight it.
So that was the point where I was at in my life.
And when I was returning to my passion
and returning to my heart, I was like,
""Man, I feel like I'm returning to my roots,
but as a new and improved version of myself.""
So that's why I wanted to call it ""Detroit 2,""
because when I associated that with my music,
""Detroit"" was, like, the first mix tape.
That was like my roots, you know?
