But it was Kobe and I had this incredible,
cantankerous relationship, because we would always
go at each other.
I remember he came to see my show in L.A.
I was doing a show. And my 'A'
my 'A' group my 'A' band was Laker fans.
Now, obviously, I was from Texas, I was a Maverick fan.
And Kobe heard "Mavericks?
Mavericks? I thought you was a winner.
Mavericks?" Laughs ]
So we started going at each other, right?
We going back and forth, right? And then I say
We were talking about players, and he was saying,
"Oh, they can't handle me."
He was talking about the Celtics couldn't handle
Then I said, "LeBron James."
"Huh? Huh?"
Laughs ] Oh, my gosh.
Dude, oh, my gosh.
I said, "LeBron James, right?"
And you know what he said? He gave props.
But then, he didn't stay for my show.
He got so pissed.
He says, "I ain't even gonna stay for your show.
I'm going to go work out." And he started to go
He went across the street,
'cause it was the Staples Center.
He started working out.
And so, after that, we started texting.
So we're texting, going back and forth.
I said, "You ain't gonna be ready for the season.
What's up with Ron Artest?" All these different things.
And I said, "You ain't gonna make it."
And he text me back, he says, "Do you have some water?"
And I said, "Huh?"
He says, "You're gonna need it,
because you're gonna 'B' on my fifth ring."

Jimmy:
Oh, my gosh! Yes!
Dude, that's what I'm talking about.

Jamie:
And then he got it. And then he went on to,
you know, victoriously win that fifth ring, man.
And that's the story that I can say that, you know,
when you look at the lay of the land
and what has transpired and how he was taken from us so fast,
man, I cherish that story.
