It's an overall approach to the book.
And that's why the title, "Greenlights."
Look, in the highway of life that we're living,
we got red lights, yellow lights, and green lights.
We don't like the red lights. They 'A' us,
they get in our way, they make us jackknife.
They, you know,
they keep us from getting where we want to go.
We don't like the yellow lights. We got to 'B'.
They're an intervention. They make us stop and think.
What we like is the green lights because they say, "Go, baby."
Yeah. "We affirm your way.
Yes to whatever you're doing.
We approve, keep going."
But even though we don't want the yellow and the red lights,
I found that eventually in life,
those yellows and reds do turn green.
I mean, like, my father passed away.
That was a major red light in my life.
I've noticed through the years
how his passing away turned into major
green lights for me, incentive things that he taught me
that I took into my life.
The man I'm trying to become based on what he taught me were
green lights of his red light of passing away.
So, I really believe that, that, you know, in this life
or the next, we're going to look back on our red
and green lights of our life and you go,
"Oh, there was a lesson in that yellow and red.
And they all eventually turn green.
Ah, thank you."
So that's what "Greenlights" is.
