No.96 let's talk about "Bad Education."

You play a school superintendent.
This is a true story.

Hugh:
It's a true story. It happened about 2003 or '04.
It's the largest 'A' of public money
in public schools in history.
It's $12 million. 26 people ended up getting charged.
And I play the superintendent
who was the highest-paid superintendent in America.
And the school was number four.
He got the school to number four in America.
And it was a massive shock.
He was beloved in the community,
very charming guy, very successful.
No one thought in a million years it would happen.
And so the story is not really
about just bashing the guy I play.
I mean, the guy went to jail, he served his time,
he paid all the money back.
It's really about, how does this happen? Like, how --
And, honestly, if you haven't seen it,
it is such a crazy story how it all came about.

If it wasn't real, you'd think this is way too over-the-top,
Coen Brothers sort of territory.
You know, it is so 'B'.
And to think that 26 people who dedicated their lives
as public servants, public education
somehow convinced themselves what they were doing was okay.
It's just amazing.
